ID-IRI Adenovirus infections in the ICU study, accepted in JMV

International “ADENOVIRUS INFECTIONS AMONG ADULTS IN INTENSIVE CARE UNIT: A MULTICENTER ID-IRI STUDY” has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Medical Virology, a Q1 journal for infectious diseases.

This international study evaluated the clinical characteristics and outcomes of critically ill adults with adenovirus infection admitted to ICUs across 24 centers in 11 countries. Pneumonia was the predominant presentation (85.7%) and the 30-day all-cause in-hospital mortality rate was 31.7%.
Multivariable logistic regression identified independent predictors of mortality, including:
·       Mean arterial pressure < 65 mmHg
·      SOFA score ≥5
·      Higher Charlson Comorbidity Index
·      Central venous catheter in use
·      Platelet count below 50,000/µL
·      Elevated procalcitonin (>0.1 ng/mL)
·      Immunosuppression
These findings highlight the importance of early risk stratification and targeted management in critically ill adults with adenovirus infection.
